COLLABORATIVE LEARNING

WHAT I DO

My practice is focused on collaborating with community organizations and artists to create spaces for joy, learning, and growth!

You’ll usually find me working with arts and science nonprofits and museums, DIY spaces, and schools that have an opportunity to make an engaging program or event but might not have the bandwidth or resources to get it off the ground.

I collaborate with folks who want to better flesh out their program or event ideas. We work together to design a project, budget for it, develop its infrastructure, and facilitate it.

This approach of mindful making ensures that programs and events meet the needs of their audience while also contributing to the impact of an organization’s mission and any grant requirements that might need to be fulfilled or measured.

My favorite people to work with are always those who are open to creating programs that involve experimentation, risk, and person-first experiences. Folks who are interested in doing some creative thinking to make a joyful program, and who are comfortable moving beyond their regular operations to think deeply about reaching new audiences and communities. Especially those who have been historically absent or excluded from the models of joyful engagement that we see today.

Creative programming both in its devisement and its execution create such a special opportunity for all parties to learn from one another! I’m proud to be one of the many people orbiting the culture sector that want to prioritize how joy and creativity can make meaningful moments for all ages.

OK SO WHAT DOES THAT LOOK LIKE?

Collaboration means that each project and program is different for each group I partner with, so there’s really a multitude of ways this looks.

And I want to keep in that way!

Sometimes it’s organizing a custom made car show and oral history event that is also a COVID vaccine clinic for Austin Public Health and Texas Folklife.

Sometimes it's spending a semester at Griffin School building a minigolf course from scratch with teenagers.

Sometimes it's an art show at the Museum of Human Achievement for emerging and established women and nonbinary artists to connect and skillshare with Austin’s creative community.

Sometimes it’s working with the UT Natural Sciences Department to create a philanthropic making program with Austin Pets Alive!

And that was just in Spring 2022!

While every project is different, I can tell you a lot of the things it usually involves me doing:
